    122101 - Youth Basketball

    Join Appleton Parks & Recreation for our upcoming Youth Basketball league, now serving children in Kindergarten through grade 6. This structured, curriculum based program will help kids develop age appropriate skills, teamwork, and a lifelong enjoyment of the game! Teams will participate in an 8-week season, featuring weekly games and regular practice opportunities. As with all of our leagues, our basketball program promotes an inclusive environment built on sportsmanship, equal playing time and FUN!

    WHEN: Saturday mornings / early afternoons, January 6 through February 24, 2018. Grades K-2 will have consolidated practices and games. Practices for children in grades 3-6 will begin late December.

    GAME LOCATIONS: Grades K-4 -Einstein Middle School. Grades 5-6 - Madison Middle School

The coaches training program places an emphasis on sportsmanship, safety and viewing the coach as a role model along with the proper ways to teach skills to the athletes. Coaches are required to pass a criminal background investigation and attend a department-sponsored coaches training. The coaches training program places an emphasis on sportsmanship, safety and viewing the coach as a role model along with the proper ways to teach skills to the athletes. If you are interested in coaching, complete the Parent/Guardian coaching section of the Individual Player form or check "yes" to the question when registering online.

    Parents and children will be required to co-sign a concussion information acknowledgement prior to the start of team activities. This form will be sent to all registered families by email at the end of league registration (late August).

    Game dates: Saturdays, September 9 - October 21, 2017
    No games September 30th due to the Oktoberfest Soccer Tournament.
    Practices: Practices begin in late-August, and are scheduled by APRD and the volunteer coach at a local park for one hour each week.
